Students finished all calculations and lay out for their Room Design Project (click here) that they have been working on this week. Project was due at the end of class.
Today was our Crazy Cat Field Trip where students got to order a snack/lunch/breakfast. This field trip was a great opportunity for students to practice calculating tax, tip, and total bill when eating out.
No Math class today, due to a "Me to We" assembly. We will finish up the Room Design project on Thursday. Reminder: bring your money for the Crazy Cafe field trip tomorrow.
HW = complete your corrections for the Chapter 5 Test on Percent, Ratio, and Rate and have your parent sign your test for Friday. We reviewed scale drawings and how to calculate equivalent ratio calculations. Students used the dimensions of their furniture for the Room Design Project (from the Sears catalogue) to create their scale drawing. Students will be given time to finish up the project on Wednesday.
Students continued with their Room Design Project calculations from last day. Click here for the Room Design Project. The buyer calculated the sale prices, subtotal, and the tax for all of the items they bought last class, using their fake credit card. The seller calculated 15% commission on all the items that were bought by the buyer last day. Some groups started their poster with all of their furniture that they bought.
Today students were introduced to the Room Design Project, click here. Students were partnered up to decide what room/backyard they were going to design. They slit themselves into the buyer and seller for the project. The buyer got to shop through a Sears catalogue to decorate their room/backyard. The buyer had a limit of a $8000 credit card that they will get charged 20% annual interest. The seller's job was to up-sell the buyer because they earned 15% commission on everything that the buyer bought.
We will continue the Room Design Project because the last part of class we attended the Beauty and the Beast at SSS. Today we used as our Science block since we missed Science yesterday and will miss it tomorrow as well.
Students pre-ordered their meal for the Crazy Cat Café Math Field trip. Students ordered from the menu, added up their bill, determined the tax, and gratuity (if they wanted) so that they were prepared with the correct amount of money when we go on our fieldtrip next Wednesday.
For the last half of class, some students finished their test from Friday while others finished their Respiratory and Circulatory vocabulary for Science. HW = complete the Respiratory and Circulatory Vocabulary page for tomorrow. |
